I am writing this review, a good two months after having finished listening to the audio book ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear and trying to personally implement the strategies of the book, to my own life. While most self-help books make for a great read and may keep one motivated for a few days, the initial enthusiasm fades away quickly, as most of them leave us with broad ideas, and usually address the ‘why you should’ over the ‘how you should’. So while you know why you should exercise regularly and make it a habit, you still struggle to implement this activity into your daily schedule.

Atomic Habits, however, gives you a very practical framework, tips and tricks to break out of the bad habits and into the good ones. One of the things I particularly benefited from was designing your environment for success. I have used this, not just for habit formation, but for getting started on a lot of other things which I had otherwise been putting off for tomorrow. Another really great and practical piece of advice is ‘habit stacking’. I have used this to add more asanas and light exercises to my morning yoga ritual. You may also find the ‘5-minute rule’ beneficial if you are struggling to start on a habit in spite of getting all the other things right.

I am sure anyone can find at least one practical takeaway from this book, at the very least. Read, implement, improve and share your feedback!
