Perry the Parrot danced on the parapet;
Flaunting poise and balance,
without breaking a sweat.
But his sight stayed fixed, as he moved and swayed,
And I wondered on what his eyes he laid.
‘Perry oh Perry’, what is it that you see,
Papaya, or melon, or your favourite Zucchini’?
But Perry was enchanted, not by veggies or fruit,
And after a while, he went straight for the shoot!
He hit the glass jar with his mighty beak;
But as luck would have it, he failed in his technique.
For the jar was on the bed and was the sturdy type,
Hence the cookies were intact, unaffected by the swipe!
But Perry was gritty,
To the jar, he showed no pity.
He rolled it to the bed’s edge,
And pushed it off in a jiffy.
The glass smashed; mom rushed without a pause,
Perry grabbed a cookie in beak and two in his claws.
As I wondered about the next steps, Perry had taken flight,
Mom’s slipper like a saucer flew in tow, but Perry was out of sight!
