The Banyan Tree

Standing tall and standing wide,

With lush green leaves brimming with pride,

Upright and alone on the river bank,

It exulted in its reflection that never shrank.

Sturdy, though hollow deep within,

It nests a few squirrels that run and spin,

Across its mighty trunk and through its roots,

And relish upon its umpteen fruits.

Spreading a cover dense and cool,

On the moist earth thriving under its rule,

It bewitches the passers off their course,

Who are drawn to its shadows, sans tools or force.

One such fortunate travelers was I,

To sit under the coolness of its thick green dye,

Admiring the titan who in cool waters mirrored,

Serenity and bliss without a letter or word.

And the silent reflection did to me unfold,

An important lesson that is rarely told,

The material world with its pleasures and pains,

is just a montage of what we sow as grains.

So don't be shackled to what in the waters you see ,

Simply rule your deeds and be the abundant tree.
