A little myna on my window came,
Its crown ruffled with the July rain.
Chirps and squawks, croaks and clicks,
The casement switched to its hall of fame.
Each child and every adult of the house,
Came rushing with their curiosity aroused.
Only to find the yellow-beaked bird,
Stare back in delight, without a word!
Not the one to be scared or to scutter,
She now upped her pitch without a flutter.
Bursting into a melodious song,
She left astounded the entire throng.
The kids into an applause burst,
As she wrapped her performance well-rehearsed.
Twitching and bobbing her head in glee,
She unfurled her wings before she would flee.
The next day as I gazed my empty sill,
Hoping to be awed by the tenacious bill.
She would, to end my solitude arrive,
Making once more my abode come alive!
